Its flat landscape gives free scope to the wind, and when the blizzards strike, the snow-drifts can pile up to several meters´height and paralyze all traffic. The local name for the phenomenon is "fåk", and it is certainly better experienced in the warmth, sitting at the fireside, while the wind is howling round the corners.
